Reporting & Writing.

Pitching a story. Slotting it. Finding the right sources. Scheduling an interview. Brainstorming questions. Conducting an interview. Recording and taking notes. All this, and I haven’t even typed a word. While some may find this process strenuous, I love each stage and understand how crucial each part is to writing the best story. I find that it is important to envision your story beforehand, but never to write it in your head — an interview can go in so many directions. In an interview, I aim to make the interviewee as comfortable as possible to tell their story; it’s about them, not me. Once all that is done, the actual writing comes pretty easy to me: use my natural skillset and all the lessons I’ve learned since beginning journalism.
